Maile Pacumio is a Filipino-Thai composer and orchestrator who explores the themes of representation, identity, love and experience through musical storytelling. Her work can be described whimsical & "blazing" (San Diego Story). 

​

Her work has been premiered and recorded with several ensembles across California and internationally. During her undergraduate at San Diego State University, she wrote works for the symphony orchestra, wind symphony, and concert band. She is a 3 time winner of the San Diego New Music Emerging Composers Competition, where she was commissioned new works for duets and quartets. In 2025, she was one of the 12 international fellows that participated in a fellowship for the Alba Music Composition Program in Alba, Italy. Currently, she is the composer in residence for the Alwani Middle Eastern Orchestra.

 

Maile holds a B.M Applied Arts & Sciences in Music Composition from San Diego State University and is currently pursuing her Masters of Music at Cal State University of Long Beach. She studies with Raymond Torres Santos and Robin Bargar to further her studies in composition. She hopes to become a professor and continue to share her stories through music.
